Editor’s desk: Keep up with our epic high school sports coverage

At The Bulletin, we believe that local sports coverage is more than just scores and stats — it’s about celebrating the passion, hard work and dedication of the athletes who represent our Central Oregon communities.

The past week has been an exciting one for high school sports:

• Three local football teams — Mountain View, Summit, and Culver — competed in state quarterfinals on Friday night, chasing their dreams of reaching the semifinals (you’ll have to visit bendbulletin.com/sports to catch up on all the action).

• The Bend High girls and Summit boys soccer teams will play for state championships on Saturday, marking the first state title game doubleheader for Bend teams in a decade.

Summit’s cross-country teams showed grit, earning second place in 5A, while Caldera also impressed at the state championships.

Crook County volleyball placed third, and Bend High finished fifth at state tournaments, representing our region with pride.

No matter the outcomes of these games, these athletes continue to inspire us with their determination and sportsmanship. Their success is a testament to the unwavering support from coaches, families and fans like you.

We are proud to cover these stories, bringing you in-depth reporting, game highlights, and personal stories that showcase the heart of Central Oregon sports. Sports editor Mark Morical and reporter Brian Rathbone are putting in the work to keep you informed on every touchdown, goal and title.

Thank you for your support of The Bulletin and our commitment to local sports journalism. If you appreciate this kind of reporting that you can’t find anywhere else, please consider subscribing.
