Founder of Bend addiction nonprofit pleads not guilty to theft of $300,000

The founder of a Bend addiction recovery nonprofit pleaded not guilty Friday to charges of aggravated theft for allegedly stealing more than $300,000 from the organization between 2019 and 2021.
Dawn Holland founded Dawns House in 2015. It is still operating, and continues its mission of facilitating stable housing, steady jobs and child reunification for women suffering from addiction and alcoholism. The name stands for Directly Assisting Women Newly Sober.

According to Deschutes County District Attorney Steve Gunnels, Holland, 53, allegedly used a corporate credit card to steal from the nonprofit on at least 10 occasions over the course of three years. In May, Holland was indicted by a Deschutes County grand jury on eight counts of aggravated theft, which is theft in excess of $10,000.
Holland’s trial is scheduled for March.
