Where to eat on Christmas Day, Christmas Eve in Central Oregon

Luckey's Woodsman is cooking up holiday kits for orders received by Dec. 21.

The holidays are hectic enough without adding the preparations of a feast into the mix. Fortunately, there’s help.

The following list of Central Oregon resorts and restaurants are hosting Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dining or holiday to-go kits that can easily be reheated at home.

Currents at the Riverhouse

Riverhouse Convention Center has holiday dining covered. The Christmas Eve menu involves tri-tip from RR Ranch ($38) and a seafood stew ($41) French onion soup ($10) and Dungeness crab cakes ($25). On Christmas Day, traditional brunch classics, pastries and desserts await at the buffet, while dinner entrees include pan-roasted duck breast ($40) or slow-smoked prime rib or beef ($46).

Brasada Ranch

Chef Karl Holl has designed holiday-inspired dining experiences for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at Brasada Ranch. The most formal event is a three-course prix fixe dinner at Wild Rye at 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve. It’s comprised of a variety of starters, mains such as Columbia River steelhead and beef tenderloin and a chocolate sponge Yule log for dessert ($89 adults, $35 children). At the Ranch House restaurant, regular menu items will be bolstered by seasonal specials, like maple-glazed ham steak, mashed potatoes, glazed carrots and Brussels sprouts.

Tetherow

Holiday dining at Tetherow resort includes a Christmas Eve dinner buffet and a to-go Christmas dinner. The Christmas Eve buffet features a seafood station, carving station with prime rib and baked ham and entrees such as king salmon and vegetable risotto. The to-go dinner is prepared family-style in oven-safe containers with reheating instructions. It serves four people, costs $260 and orders must be placed by noon on Dec. 18.

Cody’s Country Catering

Family-owned business Cody’s Country Catering is preparing reheatable Christmas dinners. Choose between a traditional Christmas dinner with honey-mustard glazed ham, turkey breast, sides and pumpkin pie or the “Bend original” with tri-tip and turkey breast or prime rib for an additional charge. Orders will be available for pick up on Monday, Dec. 23.

Luckey’s Woodsman

Luckey’s Woodsman aims to bridge the gap between outdoor recreation and professional food service by preparing meals that may be reheated over a stovetop or an open campfire. It has released two options for its holiday kits, which must be ordered by Saturday, Dec. 21. Customers may choose an eight-hour applewood smoked prime rib from Well Rooted Farms or a 12-hour applewood smoked cardamom espresso brisket. Both kits come with roasted garlic mashed potatoes, charred Brussels sprouts, bone marrow au jus and rosemary dinner rolls from Big Ed’s Artisan Bread. The kits are available for pick up at the Sisters restaurant or will be delivered to homes in Redmond, Bend and Sisters for an additional fee.

Pine Tavern

Christmas dinner at the Pine Tavern, one of Bend’s oldest restaurants, has become a tradition for Bend residents and visitors alike. While reservations are in high demand, there are sometimes cancellations. It will be serving roasted turkey with stuffing, prime rib, steelhead and jumbo cheese ravioli. Diners will also have the option to choose from tomato basil soup or salad and three types of pie.

Anthony’s at the Old Mill District

Seafood restaurant Anthony’s at the Old Mill District will be open on Christmas Day, with limited availability. It will be serving holiday specials along with its standard fare.

McMenamins Old St. Francis School Pub

The pub at McMenamins Old St. Francis School, which is celebrating its 88th birthday this year, will be open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Holiday specials will be available, in addition to the usual pub fare of Cajun Tater Tots, pizza and burgers.
