Ugly sweater, other holiday events this weekend in Central Oregon

Celebrate the weekend before Christmas with ugly sweater and other holiday-themed events in Central Oregon.

There will be deals and prizes for individuals wearing bad knits as well as a beer pong tournament and ice skating winter solstice celebration.

Ugly Sweater Bingo

Over The Edge Taphouse in Crooked River Ranch is running an ugly sweater-themed bingo game on Thursday. Participants can play and win prizes in their worst sweater.

Ugly Sweater Day

In honor of the world’s ugly sweaters and the grandmas who have lovingly gifted them, McMenamins Old St. Francis School is offering $2 off cocktails from the seasonal menu and $2 off tater tots on Friday. Let a server know you are participating to receive the deal. Staff will not make any assumptions about the aesthetic value of your sweater.

Winter Solstice Celebration

Bend Park and Recreation District’s ice rink will celebrate the shortest day of the year with a winter solstice celebration. Ice skaters will enjoy treats and a special figure skating performance by Bend Ice Figure Skating Club. Attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food donation for NeighborImpact to receive the discounted fee, special admission price with food donation.

11th Annual Live Drive-Thru Nativity

Over 80 participants construct, paint and prepare six unique scenes depicting the Christmas story following the travels of Joseph and Mary to Bethlehem, where Mary gave birth to Jesus. This is a free gift to the community by the congregants of Powell Butte Christian Church. The community is invited to drive through the scenes any time between the hours of 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., staying warm in their vehicles as they see the live actors and animals in tableau.

Ugly Sweater Beer Pong Tournament with Karaoke

Celebrate the holidays with beer pong, ugly sweaters and mainstage karaoke at Volcanic Theatre Pub. Show up before 7:45 p.m. to be considered for the beer pong tournament, $10 buy-in to compete solo or $15 per team. There will be cash and gift card prizes to first, second and third place.

Following the tournament, there will be karaoke on the mainstage. Ugly sweater winners will get gift cards and swag.
