Deschutes County Sheriff's Office cruiser

Police are investigating a suspicious death at a campsite north of Masten Road and east of Jackpine Road in the La Pine area, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office reported Friday.

Deputies responded to a report of a deceased person around 8:30 a.m Friday. The sheriff’s office is working with the Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office, the Oregon State Police Crime Lab and the state medical examiner’s office to investigate. Officials said the investigation is ongoing and additional details will be shared as they become available.

Investigators believe the incident is isolated but ask anyone who sees suspicious activity, people, or vehicles in the area to call Deschutes County 911.
