JIM SALVATORE BIRTOLA
November 20, 1956 – December 15, 2024
Jim will always be remembered as a loving husband and father. Jim was born in San Jose, California, where he met his loving wife, Lori Birtola. They were married in San Jose, California, on October 7, 1978. He was a dedicated and present father to Jeremy and Justin. He taught them to take in all that life has to offer, pausing to appreciate the little moments and lessons it may provide.
In his early work years, Jim was a test engineer for AMD and wrote computer programs to test parts for use in various space shuttles. When his two boys, Jeremy and Justin, were born, he wanted to raise his family in a quiet little mountain town. With a love of skiing in his heart, Bend, Oregon was selected as the ideal place to raise his family. It’s here that Jim tried his hand as a jack-of-all-trades, holding a variety of jobs and eventually finding his true calling in real estate. Jim took the approach of client first and quickly rose to be one of the top real estate agents and eventually brokers in the state. From an early age, Jim always had a heart and soul for music. He would spend hours with his brother Sal, bobbing away to a variety of rock songs, learning how to sing and play the tunes. Jim found his way into several bands and started others over the years. He sang, played guitar, and entertained thousands of folks around Bend and Sunriver. Although it seemed like a hobby for most, for Jim, this was his life and second only to his family. When not playing, writing, listening to music, or working, Jim could be found out on the golf course with his family and friends.
Jim is survived by his wife, Lori; sons, Jeremy and Justin; daughters-in-law, Kelsey and Kellie; and wonderful grandchildren, Jameson, Mabel, and Carter. Jim is also survived by his mother, Kay Birtola, siblings Russell and his wife, April; Sal and his wife, Kim; Anna and her husband, Kevin; nephews Nick, Jake, and Stephen; and nieces Jessy, Samantha, Ali, Heather, and Catherine. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Russell Birtola. A celebration of Jim’s life will be arranged at a later date.
