Here are the candidates for The Bulletin’s Athletes of the Week for Dec. 23-29 as nominated by local coaches and The Bulletin sports staff.

Boys

Devon Kerr, La Pine wrestling: The senior became the second La Pine wrestler in program history to win their weight class at the Sierra Nevada Classic in Reno, Nevada. Kerr won all six of his matches, including a win over Nevada’s state champion in the finals to claim the 144-pound title.

Miles Macomber, Caldera basketball: In the Oregon Holiday Hoopfest at Caldera, the senior guard averaged 17 points, three rebounds, three assists and 1.5 steals per game to help the Wolfpack win the East Bracket of the tournament. In the championship game, Macomber scored 17 points and hit three 3-pointers in the second half to beat McNary 63-58.

Landen Scott, Sisters basketball: In two games last week, the senior averaged 28.5 points per game, including a Sisters’ program-record 39 points against North Marion on Dec. 28. Through eight games this season, Scott is averaging 22.6 points per game.

Orinn Hubbard, Redmond wrestling: At the Northwest Duals wrestling tournament in Albany, the senior wrestled in two different weight classes (215 and 285 pounds) and won all eight of his matches to help the Panthers finish seventh out of 40 teams in the dual-meet tournament.

Girls

Valerie Bowman, Bend wrestling: Bowman picked up three pins at the Northwest Duals in Albany on Dec. 28-29. All three of the 120-pounder’s pins came in the first round and in less than 45 seconds.

Mia Pedersen, Redmond wrestling: The 130-pounder won six of her seven matches by pin and another by technical fall to help the Panthers take third in the eight-team championship bracket at the Northwest Duals.

Jade Seymour, La Pine wrestling: At the Sierra Nevada Classic, Seymour won two of her four matches with two pins in less than 21 seconds to advance to the quarterfinals of the 140-pound weight class.
