The Bulletin’s Athletes of the Week for Dec. 23-29 have been selected.

Mia Pedersen, a junior on the Redmond girls wrestling team, and Devon Kerr, a senior on the La Pine boys wrestling team, were selected by The Bulletin sports staff as the boys and girls Athletes of the Week.

Pedersen was nominated by the staff after the 130-pounder won all seven of her matches at the Northwest Duals in Albany. Pedersen won six of her matches by pins and another by technical fall to help the Panthers take third in the eight-team championship bracket.

Devon Kerr, La Pine wrestling

Kerr was nominated by La Pine coach Aaron Flack after the senior became the second La Pine wrestler in program history to win his weight class at the Sierra Nevada Classic in Reno, Nevada. Kerr won all six of his matches, including a win over Nevada’s state champion in the finals to claim the 144-pound title.

New nominations will be announced on Tuesday. Local athletes are nominated for the honor by coaches and The Bulletin sports staff.
