Editorial: Some New Year’s resolutions from readers

Published 5:00 am Saturday, January 4, 2025

We didn’t get a motherlode of New Year’s resolutions after we requested readers send them.

A couple of them we are sharing below. Elsewhere in today’s opinion section, there is a longer guest column about New Year’s resolutions.

Reader Mike Peyton told us his usual resolution is no drinking in January. And his new one for this year is: “I already swim three mornings a week. I try and get in 3,000 yards/day. My resolution is to do one more form of exercise per week. Ride a bike, walk 4 miles, lift weights, yoga. Something besides swimming.”

Reader Joe Kosanovic writes: “This year, I will, like, stop using the word ‘like’ as a, like, placeholder word or as a, like, shorthand filler word when I, like, speak. My conversations will sound, like, more authoritative. I will, like, get to, like, the point, like, quicker. Maybe, I will, like, sound smarter. More, like, intelligent. Wish me, like, good luck. Happy, like, New Year.”

Good luck in the new year.
