The votes are in for The Bulletin’s Athletes of the Week for Dec. 30-Jan. 4. More than 200 votes were cast.

Mackenzie Shearon, a senior on the Redmond girls wrestling team, and Brady Muilenburg, a senior on the Ridgeview boys basketball team, were voted by Bulletin readers as the boys and girls Athletes of the Week.

Shearon was nominated by The Bulletin sports staff after the senior advanced all the way to the championship match to finish second in the 145-pound weight class at the Rollie Lane Invitational in Nampa, Idaho, Jan. 3-4. Shearon pinned four opponents in the tournament.

Brady Muilenburg, Ridgeview basketball

Muilenburg was nominated by The Bulletin sports staff after he scored a combined 63 points in two wins last week over Woodburn and La Salle. Class 5A’s leading scorer posted 31 points in the Ravens’ 81-69 win over Woodburn on Dec. 30, then scored 32 points in their 65-64 victory over La Salle on Jan. 3.

Local athletes are nominated for the honor by coaches and The Bulletin sports staff.

New nominations will be announced on Tuesday.
