Travelers on state Highway 126 east of Redmond will face delays of up to 20 minutes in February and March as roadwork takes place on two canal bridges.

The Oregon Department of Transportation on Tuesday announced a pair of expected delays. Starting Feb. 3, traffic on the canal bridge near the Redmond Airport will be reduced to one lane and controlled with temporary portable traffic signals. That impact will last for about four weeks.

Then, on March 3, a canal bridge seven miles east in the Powell Butte community will be reduced to one lane and moderated by flaggers. That impact will also last for about four weeks.

The transportation agency is widening and replacing guardrails on the bridges to make them safer, according to a news release. Each closure is expected to cause delays of up to 20 minutes.
