Northwest Bend will soon be home to Bend’s newest park. Manzanita Ridge, under development by Bend Park & Recreation District, is expected to be finished by fall 2025.
The park will feature a traditional playground, an open lawn area, shade shelter and picnic tables. A special feature will be a giant beaver sculpture that will double as a climbing feature for kids. The park will also have a trailhead for the Manzanita Trail, which connects to the Shevlin Park trail system.
Manzanita Ridge is the district’s 86th park. It comes at a cost of $1.76 million, which includes land acquisition, design and construction. The park is located near the intersection of Mt. Hood Dr. and Jackwood Place.
Access to the Manzanita Trail from the park will be closed during construction. The park district asks the public to avoid the construction site until work is complete.
A map on the project website shows the public how to access the Manzanita Trail during construction. It requests that the public avoid creating shortcuts through natural areas or private property.
