Great Nordeen Nordic ski and fatbike races scheduled for Sunday at Bachelor

The 22nd edition of the Great Nordeen cross-country ski race is set for Sunday at Mt. Bachelor ski area.
Events include 30-kilometer and 18K freestyle races, an 18K team race, and a 15K fatbike race.
Start time for all skiers is 7:30 a.m., and 8 a.m. for cyclists. Ski races start at West Village Lodge and the fatbike race starts near Sunrise Lodge. Races finish at Wanoga Sno-park.
The Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation (MBSEF) will provide shuttles back and forth from the start and finish areas.
Registration is available at mbsef.org and closes at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
According to MBSEF, the Great Nordeen is held annually in honor of Central Oregon ski pioneer Emil Nordeen. A prominent adventurer and mountaineer in the Cascades in the 1920s and 30s, Nordeen helped found the first search-and-rescue organization in Bend, as well as the Skyliners Ski Club, which later became MBSEF.
The Great Nordeen is produced by and a benefit for MBSEF, which offers youth snow sports programs in Central Oregon.
