Central Oregon has plenty of alternative Valentine’s Day events to attend without a partner.

Go out the night before for a Galentine’s paint night, play with adoptable cats, ski candlelit trails or try out speed dating.

Galentine’s Wine and Paint Night

Take the friend group out for a wine and paint night with Chalked Creative. Includes a glass of wine and all painting supplies. A reservation is encouraged if you’d like dinner before. Thursdays are fried chicken and Champagne night.

Thursday 7-9 p.m.; $48, 20% gratuity added at event; Flights Wine Bar, 1444 NW College Way, Bend; exploretock.com or 541-728-0753.

Valentine’s Date Night

Enjoy Valentine’s cupcakes, a cold drink and 50 minutes of playing with cats. Space is limited.

Playful Paws Cat Cafe is partnered with Cascade Canine Rescue East & West (CCREW) to provide adoptable cats. If at the end of your visit you’ve fallen hopelessly in love with a new feline friend, you can apply to take the new friend home.

Friday 4-7 p.m.; $48; Playful Paws Cat Cafe, 1465 SW Knoll Ave., Bend; playfulpawscatcafe.com or 541-728-3871.

Valentine’s Luminaria & DJ Dance Party

Head out for a cross-country ski or snowshoe along candlelit trails at Mt. Bachelor Nordic Center. Bring your sweetheart, friends, family or come solo to enjoy a unique night in the snowy mountain landscape.

Between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m., DJ Zoë and Tosch will be playing music for a dance party at “The Oval,” which is a half-mile ski or snowshoe from the lodge. Warm up at trailside fire pits and dance. Costumes, glow-in-the-dark attire and general merriment are all encouraged. Be sure to bring a headlamp.

The trail is open to both skiers and snowshoers. Walking (without snowshoes) is not permitted. The Nordic Cafe will be open with a full menu.

Friday 5-8 p.m.; $25 for half day pass, $17 youth & seniors, snowshoe pass is $13; Mt. Bachelor, 13000 Century Drive, Bend; mtbachelor.com or 800-829-2442.
