A 28-year-old Bend man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a stabbing that injured another man the day before, police said.
At about 3:14 p.m. Monday, Bend Police responded to the Campfire Hotel on Northeast Third Street after a man entered the lobby and reported he had been stabbed. The victim, a 31-year-old Bend resident, told officers the stabbing happened in the 200 block of Northeast Franklin Avenue. He was taken to St. Charles Bend with minor injuries.
Investigators identified the suspect as Kienan Dean Maximchuk. On Tuesday, police searched a campsite near Butler Market Road and the Bend Parkway, where they believed Maximchuk was staying. They arrested Maximchuk at about 4:56 p.m.
During the arrest, a police dog bit Maximchuk. He suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Maximchuk was taken to the Bend Police Department before being booked into the Deschutes County jail on suspicion of second-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.
