This is why Kelly Graves brought Deja Kelly to Oregon.

The midrange maestro came up clutch for the Ducks on Wednesday night at Matthew Knight Arena, hitting key shots from the field and at the line to give Oregon women’s basketball a 68-67 win over rival Washington.

“We know there’s a lot at stake and we know there’s a lot to play for,” Kelly told reporters. “For us to come out in the second half like we did, we just knew we had to have an energy shift and pick it up on the defensive end. It just came down to us getting stops.”

A crucial game in the Big Ten standings — and in Oregon’s postseason hopes as both it and Washington sit on the NCAA tournament bubble — went the way of Graves’ squad as it clinched a spot in the conference tournament.

The Ducks (17-8, 8-6 Big Ten) got a season-high 21 points from Kelly, 14 from Elisa Mevius, and 11 from Phillipina Kyei.

The Huskies (14-11, 5-8) were led by 21 points from Sayvia Sellers, 17 from Dalaya Daniels, and 16 from Elle Ladine.

Led by 11 first half points from Ladine, the Huskies finished the half strong and led Oregon 32-27 at the break. Their lead stemmed from efficient shooting (52%) and an 18-13 advantage on the boards.

With the waning moments played at a frantic pace, a layup by Hannah Stines made it 67-65 Huskies with 43.4 seconds remaining.

Kelly got to the line on the other end, splitting a pair to make it 67-66 with 39.3 seconds left.

Washington turned the ball over on a charge by Sellers — taken by Kelly — with 17.8 seconds to go, giving the Ducks a chance to take a late lead.

Kelly drove hard at the basket, earning a foul call before hitting a pair of free throws to give Oregon a 68-67 lead with 12.2 to go.

Devin Coppinger missed the jumper for Washington at the buzzer, and Oregon celebrated a pivotal win.

Oregon plays at Minnesota on Sunday at noon.
