Jackson Shelstad, Nate Bittle lead Oregon men’s basketball past Rutgers

EUGENE — In its second of three straight critical swing games in the Big Ten standings, Oregon held serve and notched a win to keep its postseason hopes alive.
Jackson Shelstad scored 19 points and Nate Bittle had 15 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks to lead the Ducks in a 75-57 win over Rutgers Sunday afternoon at Matthew Knight Arena.

Oregon (18-8, 7-8 Big Ten), which moved into a three-way tie for eighth in the conference standings with five regular season games to play, had by far its best three-point shooting performance of the season. The Ducks shot 59.1% from behind the arc to just 21.1% for the Scarlet Knights (12-14, 5-10).
Oregon did not lead until 5:13 to go in the first half, but other than one exchange of baskets, never looked back after gaining control.
It limited Dylan Harper (14 points) and fellow star freshman Ace Bailey (eight points) to a combined 9 of 27 from the field, including 2 of 12 from three for only 21 points. The projected lottery picks in the NBA draft entered averaging nearly 38 points per game.
Oregon plays at Iowa on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. (Big Ten Network).
