Registration for a week-long high school summer program at Oregon State University-Cascades is open. It provides an introduction to college life, with classes and recreation activities available to high school students entering 10th through 12th grade.

The program has two sessions that take place July 20-25 and July 27-August 1. Both day and overnight options are available.

Participants will take Student Success 101, a series of sessions that cover belonging, health and wellness, life activities and career preparation.

Students who successfully complete the course will receive a $500 stipend from OSU-Cascades to be used in the fall following their high school graduation.

Students will select which tracks they want to participate in. The art, tech and media track is offered in both sessions. The computer science and outdoor products tracks are offered in the first session, while the engineering and kinesiology tracks are offered in the second session. Participants will also experience a night in downtown Bend and a campfire night. Students will also take a field trip to tour a company and learn from experts in an industry.

Weather conditions permitting, recreation activities will include floating the Deschutes River and hiking in local parks. On-campus activities include board games, playing pool, movies, outdoor games and access to the campus fitness center.

OSU-Cascades students will serve as counselors during each session and support high schoolers as they work through the program.

Attendance is limited. The day option costs $1,000 and the overnight option costs $1,500. Fees are inclusive and cover classes, supplies, recreational activities, guides and equipment, transportation for outings and daily lunch and snacks. Five nights in the student residence hall are included in the overnight option.
