The Deschutes National Forest has started a brush and small tree removal project along Forest Service Road 16 south of Sisters. The roadside work is designed to remove hazardous fuels and improve visibility along the travel corridor.

Short delays can be expected for those traveling along the road until work is completed. The road connects Sisters with Three Creek Lake and is a popular road with recreationalists, especially in summer. The target date for completion is May 16, wet weather could push the date back.

The work will be conducted along 9.17 miles of Forest Service Road 16, starting 4.5 miles south of Sisters and continuing to the junction of FSR 16 and FSR 1628.

Traffic control during roadwork will reduce FSR to a single lane of traffic. No road or trail closures are anticipated. For further questions, contact the Sisters Ranger District at 541-549-7700.
