A Bend man was arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting that took place Thursday night on NE Purcell Boulevard.

At around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Bend Police responded to a caller reporting that the driver of a gray Audi station wagon fired shots at the occupants of a Honda near Team Kia before fleeing the scene. No one inside the Honda was injured during the incident, but officers found evidence of the shooting at the scene and the Honda was damaged by gunfire.

Officers determined Tyler Jacob Mendoza, 29, to be the driver of the Audi, according to a release from Bend Police. He was located at an apartment complex in the 1700 block of SE Tempest Drive, where officers from the inter-agency Central Oregon Emergency Response Team took him into custody around 9:30 p.m. on suspicion of assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

In 2016, Mendoza was also convicted of a misdemeanor hit-and-run in Deschutes County.
