Sunriver hires new police chief

The Sunriver Police Department has hired Peter J. Rasic as its new chief of police.
Rasic has been in law enforcement for almost 30 years, and was previously serving as a lieutenant with the El Monte Police Department in California. His experience includes overseeing patrol operations, emergency preparedness and overseeing a $44 million budget with 167 personnel.
Rasic holds a master’s degree in public administration and a bachelor’s degree in speech from California State University, Long Beach. He has also completed training with the FBI National Academy, the Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar and the West Point Leadership Academy.
The Sunriver Police Department has a staff of 13, including the new police chief. The department serves a full-time population of 1,700 people, which swells to more than 20,000 during peak tourist seasons.
The job posting lists the police chief’s salary as $138,921, with benefits such as health care and a take-home vehicle.
