Patricia Moen
July 12, 1951 – March 27, 2025
In the presence of her loving family, Patricia Ann Moen passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025, at her home in Bend after a courageous battle with mantle cell lymphoma, which she fought head-on with relentless fortitude. She was 73 years old.
Born on July 12, 1951, in Ashland, Patricia lived a life full of love, friendship, and outdoor adventures. Patricia, called Patty by her closest friends and Grammy by her grandchildren, was a cherished mother, grandmother, sibling, and friend. She was married to her childhood sweetheart, Eric Wilson Moen, until his passing in 2010. She is survived by her children, Kristi and Blue Huber, and Erica and Jason Simonds; her two grandchildren, Willem Huber and Macey Simonds; her sister, Gloria Crisp; and her brother, Michael Gebhart, who will forever hold her memory dear. Her kindness left a lasting mark on her family and all who knew her.
Patricia found joy in life’s simple pleasures: spending time with her family, whom she loved dearly, lunching with the ladies, hiking with friends in the desert and mountains, and dedicating herself to preserving the trails she loved so much. An avid adventurer, she traveled to breathtaking hiking destinations like Machu Picchu, the Italian Dolomites, Mexico’s Copper Canyon, New Zealand, Banff, and parts of the Pacific Crest Trail, embracing the world’s beauty with every journey. She met many lasting friends as a longstanding employee of 25 years for the Bend LaPine School District and forged countless more through her passion for hiking, building community wherever she went. She particularly loved watching her grandchildren, Willem and Macey, grow and delighted in every milestone they reached.
A celebration of life gathering for friends and family will be held with a date and time to be shared in the future. Patricia will be interred at Deschutes Memorial Chapel and Gardens in Bend, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Partners in Care, or the Central Oregon Trail Alliance in honor of Patricia. The family extends their sincere appreciation and gratitude to Patricia’s wonderful friends for their devotion to her, to Partners in Care for their unwavering support, and to Dr. William Schmidt and his team at Summit Health Oncology for their determined and compassionate care.
