Jason Dea West brings his soulful Americana to Bend

Jason Dea West’s spring tour includes a few big cities — including a date opening for Sierra Ferrell in Sacramento — but mostly it takes him and his band to a bunch of small towns across the American West: Callahan and Black Butte, California. Curlew, Washington. Williams and Applegate, Oregon.

This is more than just a routing curiosity. It fits with West’s brand of authentic acoustic Americana, which contains country and bluegrass and folk and blues within its big tent. This is music for wide-open landscapes and far-off horizons and riding the rails and dusty leather boots. It’s a throwback soundtrack for a modern life spent ruminating about the good ol’ days.

Based in Oregon and Arizona, West has long taken a fiercely independent approach to his music and his career. His brand new album “8 Miles From Rusk” came out in late April on his own record label, Intuitive Compass. On Thursday, his aforementioned tour will bring him and his band to Bend’s Domino Room.

Jason Dea West & The Siskiyou Crest: 8 p.m. Thursday, doors open 7 p.m., $20, Domino Room, 51 NW Greenwood Ave., Bend, midtownballroom.com.
