Bend South Little League’s newly crowned state-champion baseball team is in the process of raising funds to help the team’s families join the players and coaches at the Northwest Regional Tournament, which gets under way this week in San Bernardino, Calif.
Today, Pappy’s Pizzeria in south Bend is hosting a fundraiser in which 50 percent of the proceeds from each food order will be donated to BSLL. The fundraiser is not valid on deliveries and is good only at Pappy’s, 20265 Meyer Drive. The fundraiser runs all day, from open to close.
Participants in the pizza fundraiser must bring to the restaurant a flier that can be accessed on the Bend South Little League website: www.eteamz.com/bendsouth/.
Sponsorships are also being sought and can be arranged by e-mailing bendsouthlittleleague@gmail.com. Donations may be made to a Bend South Little League PayPal account, which is also available at the BSLL website.
The six-state Northwest Regional Tournament (Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, Wyoming) is to be staged in conjunction with the West Regional Tournament at Al Houghton Stadium starting Friday and running through Aug. 13. Bend South is scheduled to open Friday at 4 p.m. against Idaho champion Lewiston Little League.
The radio broadcast of Saturday’s state championship final, in which Bend South defeated Ashland 14-1, is scheduled to be replayed Tuesday at 5 p.m. on KICE-AM 940.
