ASHLAND — The city of Ashland is testing an Internet site called Open City Hall to allow comment on city government topics when people miss public meetings.

The Ashland Daily Tidings reports that people are asked to provide their names and addresses to join the site at www .ashland.or.us/opencityhall. But the information will be kept confidential. It will be used to identify statements coming from people who live in or near Ashland.

In a message for people visiting the website, city officials said they can’t guarantee the outcome of issues posted on the site, but they “can guarantee that your voice will be heard.”

The Open City Hall service is run by Peak Democracy, a nonpartisan company with a mission to broaden civic engagement and build public trust in government across the country.
