- Christine Adams
Nov. 30, 1920 – Oct. 18, 2010
Christine was the ”go to” person. When her daughter suffered a massive brain tumor, Christine packed up, left her home in Issaquah, WA, and moved to San Francisco CA, to care of Kenny Lee who is still living. When Kenny Lee was ready, Christine moved her back to Issaquah, WA, and into her home and cared for her there for many years.
Christine was the ”go to” person at work. First at US National Bank she was the ”go to.” When she left the bank for a job at Central Oregon Community College, the bank hired two women to do the job she had been doing. She was recruited to Central Oregon Community College as the sole person in the business office. She was handling a payroll for 72 employees, all financial matters including payables and receivables. When a new position of Business Manager was established by the college she was denied even an interview because she was ”a woman and too old.” However, during the 1999 celebration of the 50th anniversary Christine was recognized as one of most influential individuals in the half century of existence of the college. One of her proudest moments was receiving her AA degree from COCC magna cum laude.
Christine was the ”go to” person in serving in Masonic organizations as WM of Eastern Star and RM of Amaranth, Daughters of the Nile and several statewide positions. She was president of Soroptimists International of Bend, president of the St. Charles Memorial Hospital auxiliary, and numerous other organizations including the First Presbyterian Church of Bend, Oregon.
After moving to Providence Point in Issaquah in the late 1990s, Christine became the ”go to” person there involved in numerous positions in the Residents’ Events committee, Garden Club Senior Center.
Christine leaves her ”go to” legacy to her loving family: son, A. Michael Adams (wife Pamela) and daughter, Kenny Lee Adams; granddaughter, Angela Bitting (husband Doug) and grandson, Mitch; and great-grandchildren, Caleb and Grace.
Christine was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Alex Adams. Christine’s parents, Kenneth and Marian (Mary Eliza) Dagman preceded her in death. Christine is also survived by niece, Eleanor Jackson, nephew, Ray Jackson, three great-nieces, a grand nephew, and all of their families.
A celebration of Christine’s life will be held on November 21, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Providence Point Club House, Issaquah, WA. Family requests that donations be made to charity of your choice.
