Whole Foods Market has issued a recall of organic raw hazelnuts sold in its stores in Oregon, California, Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Utah and Washington due to salmonella contamination.

Non-organic dry roasted hazelnuts sold in Oregon, California, Nevada and Washington are also subject to the recall, as are non-organic raw hazelnuts sold in Oregon and Washington.

Salmonella was detected during a product sampling at the plant where the nuts were shelled.

Although no illnesses have been reported, the nuts should not be consumed. Customers who purchased the recalled products since Oct. 12 may return the items for a full refund.
