BANKS — Former Redmond High School standout Andrew Fitch shot a 1-under-par 71 to qualify Saturday for the 2009 Oregon Amateur Championship.

Fitch, who completed his senior season at Linfield College last month, finished in a tie for second place at the Oregon Am qualifier at Quail Valley Golf Course. That was just one shot behind medalist Gary Harding, of Portland.

Chris Hall, of Bend, also qualified for the tournament with a 3-over-par 75. Alex Fitch, the brother of Andrew and a Linfield sophomore-to-be, will be the first alternate after losing to Hall in a playoff to determine the final qualifying spot.

The Oregon Amateur will be played Aug. 22-27 at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort on the southern Oregon Coast.
