The Lonely H gets classic at Black Horse

Any band worth its salt works hard to make sure its music exudes substance over style, not the other way around. It’s a balance that can get out of whack pretty quickly.
The Lonely H has style. Just visit www.myspace.com/ thelonelyh to check out these four young Washingtonians’ catalog-ready ensemble of thrift-store boots, worn-out jeans, chest-baring shirts and lots of hair.
It’s enough to turn off anyone who’s tired of the retro look. But this band backs up its style with substance, in the form of authentic, Southern-inspired rock ’n’ roll. They’ve been known to eschew the “classic rock” label, but here are the first seven influences listed on the MySpace: The Eagles, Bob Seger, Jackson Browne, Fleetwood Mac, Rod Stewart, The Band and the Doobie Brothers.
So yeah, they do modern-day classic rock, and their album, “Concrete Class,” is well worth your attention.
The Lonely H ; 9 tonight; free; Black Horse Saloon, 20565 Brinson Blvd., Bend; 541-382-4270.
