Local lumberjack to be featured on ESPN2

Lumberjack David Green, of Sisters, will be featured on ESPN2 beginning this Sunday in the 2009 Stihl Timbersports Series.

Most of the events in the Timbersports Series include chopping or sawing wood, but pole-climbing and ax-throwing are also included.

Green, a state-champion golfer at Sisters High School in 2003, won the West Collegiate Challenge in March in Northern California. He placed fourth in the Stihl Timbersports Collegiate Championship in Georgia in June.

The Stihl Timbersports Series will air on ESPN2 on Sunday from noon to 2 p.m. Further coverage will air Nov. 29, Dec. 20, and Dec. 27, all on ESPN2.

Rail jam event set for Saturday in Bend

Side Effect Snowboard Shop in Bend will host a rail jam on Saturday at 2 p.m.

The shop is located at 133 S.W. Century Drive.

Entry fee is $10, but riders receive free entry into the rail jam when they sign up for the USA Snowboard Association Enter the Dragon events at Mount Bachelor.

Proceeds from the rail jam will benefit local paralyzed snowboarder Tyler Eklund.

Spectators are welcome at no cost.
