Accomplished local landscape artist dies

Landscape artist Joyce Clark, of Bend, died Jan. 25 at age 92.

Clark, who grew up in Laguna Beach, Calif., attended Whittier College in Whittier, Calif. and the University of California Los Angeles. She married Marshall Clark in May of 1941 in Los Angeles.

In the late 1960s she lived in Lahaina, Maui, where she was inspired to paint tropic- and beach-scapes.

Clark settled in Sunriver in the early 1990s and was commissioned to do several paintings by Sunriver Resort. Those paintings hang in the Crosswater Grille dining room.

She received the Juror’s Choice Award at the Art for the Parks exhibition in Jackson Hole, Wyo. and the Award of Excellence at the 11th Annual Oil Painters of America juried show. She also published a book of her work, “Adventures in Art.”
