FISHING

Fly Fishing, Getting Started: July 14, 16, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in Sisters. Cost is $65. This introductory course will teach skills, techniques and information to get started in fly-fishing. Learn about fish habitat, fly tackle, equipment, knots and casting techniques. Senior Fishing Derby: Scheduled for Walton Lake in the Ochoco National Forest on Wednesday, July 22. The 16th annual senior fishing derby is a low-key event for seniors 50 and over. HUNTER EDUCATION CLASS: Scheduled in Redmond for July 6-23, Monday and Thursday nights from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Field day is Saturday, July 18, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Classes are held at Highland Baptist Church. COSSA Ladies Day at the Range: The Central Oregon Shooting Sports Association will host a Ladies Day at the COSSA Shooting Sports Complex on July 19, starting at 9 a.m. Introduction to the fundamentals of safe handgun shooting.
