The Bulletin welcomes contributions to its weekly Hunting and Fishing Events Calendar. Items should be mailed to P.O. Box 6020, Bend, OR 97708; faxed to the sports department at 385-0831; or e-mailed to sports@bendbulletin.com. Items are published on a space-availability basis and should be submitted at least 10 days before the event.
FISHING
Fly Fishing, Getting Started: July 14, 16, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in Sisters. Cost is $65. This introductory course will teach skills, techniques and information to get started in fly-fishing. Learn about fish habitat, fly tackle, equipment, knots and casting techniques. Both class sessions meet in Camp Sherman and will be taught outdoors. $10 for fly-fishing materials paid to instructor at first class. Contact: noncredit.cocc.edu or call 541-383-7270.
Senior Fishing Derby: Scheduled for Walton Lake in the Ochoco National Forest on Wednesday, July 22. The 16th annual senior fishing derby is a low-key event for seniors 50 and over. Several prizes will be awarded. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. at the boat ramp. The derby runs from 8 a.m. to noon. Contact: Barb Franano at 541-416-6485.
The Sunriver Anglers Club: Meets on the third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Sunriver Fire Station. Contact: www.sunriveranglers.org.
The Central Oregon Flyfishers club: Meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Bend Senior Center, 1600 SE Reed Market Road. Contact: www.coflyfishers.org.

HUNTING
HUNTER EDUCATION CLASS: Scheduled in Redmond for July 6-23, Monday and Thursday nights from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Field day is Saturday, July 18, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Classes are held at Highland Baptist Church. Field day is at the Redmond Rod and Gun Club. Cost is $10. Pre-registration at the Cascade Swim Center (541-548-6066) is required. Class is limited to the first 25 students. SHOOTING
COSSA Ladies Day at the Range: The Central Oregon Shooting Sports Association will host a Ladies Day at the COSSA Shooting Sports Complex on July 19, starting at 9 a.m. Introduction to the fundamentals of safe handgun shooting. The clinic includes use of all equipment, program materials, instruction, ammunition and lunch. Limited to the first 40 ladies to pre-register, ages 13 and up.
