Dale Bannon, a Prineville resident, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2009. He was 83 years of age. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 2, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 695 NW Third St., Prineville, OR 97754. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. at Juniper Haven Cemetery in Prineville, OR. Pastor Barbara Punch will officiate.

Dale was born to Edward L. and Marie (Dahl) Bannon on June 5, 1925 in Williams, Minnesota. Dale graduated from Baudette High School in Minnesota where he played and loved hockey on the high school team and also played semi pro hockey, he held the shut out record for many years as the goalie.

Dale moved to Portland, Oregon where he worked on the shipyards for a year then moved back to Minnesota. Dale married Grace Frosaker in Ross, Minnesota in 1947 he and Grace moved to Prineville in 1947 where they have lived and raised their son Jerry.

Dale worked for Prineville Sand and Gravel for about three years then moved on to Ochoco Lumber Company for 35 years retiring in 1985.

After retiring he worked for the Crook County Road Department part-time. Dale was always very interested in the community and was involved with the planning commission and was on the city council, he was also a past member of the Crook County fair board. Dale as been an active member at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church since 1947.

Dale enjoyed gardening, making garden craft for his friends and family, and wood working, he also loved to hunt and fish. Dale will be missed by all his many friends and his family.

Dale is survived by his wife, Grace Bannon of Prineville, OR; one son, Jerry and Judy Bannon of Redmond, OR one Brother Lawrence ”Babe” Bannon of Prineville, OR one sister, Lillian Humeniuk of Bemidji, MN; two step grandchildren, Raun Atkinson of Huston, TX and Jami Atkinson of Newport Beach, CA; and many cousins in MN, CA, IA, numerous nieces and nephews.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
