Bill Kopacz, general manager of Midstate Electric Cooperative Inc. in La Pine, was re-elected to the board of directors of the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corp. Kopacz will serve a three-year term as representative of Region 9, which includes Oregon, Alaska, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Washington and Utah.

James Dixon has joined Douglas Fine Jewelry Design in Bend as jewelry designer and goldsmith. Dixon, a graduate of the Texas Institute of Jewelry Technology, received certificates in jewelry technology and horology. He has more than 30 years of experience creating jewelry and has experience in traditional design, gold and platinum manufacturing, and modern laser welding technology.

Chris Boyle and Tim Gregor have been named to head the Scratch Mechanix division of Glass Mechanix. Boyle, who has more than nine years of experience restoring automotive and architectural glass, served as head trainer and product designer for GlasWeld Systems. Gregor founded a glass restoration company eight years ago and has completed large-scale repair work around North America.

Ken Bartell, president of ServiceMaster Commercial Cleaning based in Redmond, attended the 10th annual Public Affairs Conference of the International Franchise Association, held last month in Washington D.C. Bartell, who serves on the IFA board of directors, joined 450 franchise leaders to discuss the impact of health care reform on small franchise businesses with U.S. Rep. Greg Walden, R-Ore., and with staff of U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore.

Landrie Peterman, the owner of Anytime Fitness in Bend, was featured in the October issue of Entrepreneur magazine. Peterman was interviewed about business operations she implemented that made the club more successful.

Ken Morey, Lyndon Moore and Elijah Aldinger have joined My Referral Club Bend. The club helps local professionals provide sales referrals to one another.
