HILLSBORO — Kaiser Permanente says it is going ahead with a new $285 million hospital construction project in Hillsboro.

Plans call for construction to begin next summer after Kaiser officials announced last year the project would be postponed.

The company has accepted construction bids on the project and is expected to choose a contractor within a few weeks.

Matt Miller, a Kaiser Permanente project manager, said the start of construction in Hillsboro will correspond to the completion of Kaiser’s work at its Sunny- side hospital in the Clackamas area, which started in 2004.

Overall, the Hillsboro project is expected to generate between 400 and 600 new construction jobs, with an additional 1,100 to 1,200 health care jobs once the hospital opens in 2013.
