Mrs. Isham was born April 15, 1920, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Steve Sabo and Julia Baros Sabo. She married Quentin D. (Kick) Isham on June 21, 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Mrs. Isham graduated from high school and business school in Cleveland, Ohio. She worked in the Liberty Shipyards in San Francisco, California, during World War II. Moving to Oregon after the war, Mrs. Isham first worked as a real estate broker in Monmouth, Oregon. Later, she worked in retail and wholesale shipping and receiving until her retirement in 1978. Mrs. Isham volunteered with the Stayton Area Chamber of Commerce and was active in the Santiam Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Stayton United Methodist Church. She was a long-time member of the Santiam Women’s Golf Association and was involved in a number of other community activities.
Mrs. Isham was always proud of her Hungarian heritage, and loved to bake ethnic dishes and pastries. She was also a skilled seamstress, sewing many of her own clothes throughout the years. The three houses she built in Aumsville remain as tangible evidence of her talents and skill. Mrs. Isham loved animals, always having a dog and cat, and, at one time, a pet goat. In later years she traveled the globe with her sister, Elsie, and friend, Rose De Martino. She loved her family and devoted her life to the successes of others.
Survivors include her three sons, Quentin D. (Dell) Isham, Jr., of Columbia, South Carolina and Lincoln City, Oregon; Richard L. Isham of Fort Collins, Colorado; and Roderick S. Isham of Portland, Oregon; a sister, Elsie Jones of Garden Valley, California; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kick, and her brother, Ernie Sabo.
