EUGENE — US Airways is ending its nonstop flights from Eugene to Phoenix as of Sept. 30.
Previously, the carrier had announced that it was ending its service from Eugene to Las Vegas.
Eugene Airport spokeswoman Cathryn Stephens said the airport hopes to entice another carrier to pick up the Phoenix route.
Earlier this week, Delta Air Lines announced that it was ending its twice-daily nonstop flights between Los Angeles and Eugene, as of Sept. 1.
In recent weeks, several smaller Oregon cities have also been notified that they will lose their direct routes to hubs, including Coos Bay, Klamath Falls and Pendleton. Airline officials have attributed the changes to high fuel prices.
