Banning incandescent light bulbs is silly

The recent legislation to ban incandescent light bulbs was a mistake. Try reading for an extended period using a replacement fluorescent bulb — I have — it is quite fatiguing and unpleasant.
Further, the idea that incandescent bulbs waste energy is false. The (waste) heat generated by an incandescent bulb is offset, during the dark months when lighting is most used, by a corresponding reduction in heating requirements. In fact, incandescent bulbs save energy by creating warmth in close proximity and by not heating all corners of a room equally. The primary beneficiary of this law will be General Electric, who can now sell light bulbs for $5.00 instead of .50 cents. This precipitous law should be repealed.
I have written our senators and congressman regarding this issue — others may wish to consider doing so as well.
