Want to get rid of your yard debris?

Salvador Lara empties a trailer with yard debris from a friend’s house on Thursday at the Deschutes Recycling yard debris area of Knott Landfill. The area where the FireFree Cleanup Days will take place is different than the yard debris area, according to a landfill worker.

Residents with piles of grass and weed debris in their yards are in luck.

For the next week, Knott Landfill will accept yard debris free of charge. Beginning today and ending April 27, the landfill will be open from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., accepting yard debris in an effort to prevent fires this summer. No stumps, sod, manure or lumber will be accepted, and businesses aren’t eligible to participate.
