William Francis Cass, of Bend, died Friday of natural causes. He was 80.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Mr. Cass was born Feb. 9, 1927, in Waterbury, Conn., to Charles and Gertrude (Mulcrone) Cass. He married Betty Zimmerman in Connecticut in August 1953.

Mr. Cass served in the U.S. Navy Air Corps. He worked as a regional vice president for John Hancock Insurance Co. He retired in 1989. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and enjoyed golf and tennis. He had played semi-professional baseball. He moved to Central Oregon two years ago.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Bill Jr., of Coronado, Calif., Scott, of Lakeville, Minn., Randy, of Coto de Caza, Calif., and Tim, of Albuquerque, N.M.; a daughter, Lisa Smith, of Bend; and 11 grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church Building Fund.
