James William Rimmer, of Sisters, died Thursday of cancer. He was 86.

Services will be held at a later date.

Mr. Rimmer was born Feb. 2, 1920, in Fort Thomas, Ky. He served in the U.S. Army as a B24 navigator in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He married Barbara Little.

Mr. Rimmer worked as the president of Gate City Steel Corp. in Omaha, Neb. After his retirement, he split his time between Palm Springs, Calif., and Sisters.

He enjoyed being a part of the business community, growing roses and spending time with friends.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years; a son, James Jr., of Los Gatos, Calif.; two daughters, Diane, of Seattle, and Pamela, of Salem; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any place of worship.

Autumn Funerals of Bend is in charge of arrangements.
