Joseph ‘Hank’ Henry Berchtold

Joseph ”Hank” Henry Berchtold, of Redmond, died Wednesday of natural causes. He was 81.

Mr. Berchtold was born March 7, 1925, to Joseph and Anna (Knighten) Berchtold in Redmond. He married Hilda Shotwell on Aug. 31, 1973, in Reno, Nev.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Mr. Berchtold worked as a welder for the city of Redmond. He retired in 1987.

He was affiliated with the Redmond Elks and Good Sams.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, gardening and collecting Western artifacts.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert, of Powell, Wyo.; a stepson, Kenny McCall, of Corvallis; a daughter, Ginny, of Albany; a stepdaughter, Becky Hov, of Phoenix; and a brother, George, of Powell, Wyo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
