Woman seeks more time to enter plea

The 25-year-old woman accused of shaking her baby niece to death in May asked for more time before entering a plea in court Thursday.
Katherine Ann Seifert was charged with murder, first-degree manslaughter, first-degree assault and first-degree criminal mistreatment in connection with the death of her brother’s 14-month-old daughter, Christina Seifert, whom Katherine Seifert was babysitting May 24 when the baby died. An autopsy revealed Christina Seifert died from head trauma.

Seifert appeared in court by video Thursday, and her lawyers asked Judge Michael Sullivan for an additional 60 days before entering a plea. Sullivan granted the request. Seifert’s next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 30 at 1:30 p.m.
