Help the animals

So many needy animals – of all types – come into the shelter every single day. Their needs know no season, nor do they take a day off. Each shelter does the best it can on limited budgets and limited manpower, and the caring people who work there deserve much admiration for what they do every day.
Everyone has busy lives, and the summer months can be especially so. Please take a couple of hours a week (perhaps that time is spent watching television) and go to your local animal shelter. If you don’t have the time to help feed and clean them, please come and spend some time with them; talk to them, hold them, take them for a walk. A lot of these animals are scared and confused, and would appreciate a kind word or a few hugs. It would mean so much to them, and you’ll feel good about it too.

I am always amazed at how truly resilient these animals are. After what some of them have gone through before arriving at the shelter, they are all happy to see you. There are so many happy and loving animals there, waiting for that special home. Until that happens, they deserve the best possible care they can get.
And please, don’t forget to adopt your next fur-ever friend at your Bend or Redmond Humane Society. If you have the time, proper home and much love to give to an animal, you’ll be doing the right thing.
