Cow Canyon Rest Area closed for plumbing repairs

The Cow Canyon Rest Area, 21 miles south of Maupin on U.S. Highway 97, will close today as crews for Oregon Department of Transportation work to repair plumbing at the facility.

The rest area, which is at milepost 68.7, is scheduled to reopen on Tuesday. Temporary restrooms will be available.

Several road projects will continue in the area, weather permitting.

REDMOND

A section of Ninth Street, south of Highland Avenue, in Redmond will be closed for several nights next week to allow for water line work. Traffic will be detoured to 11th Street.

Crews are working to install the city of Redmond’s waterline project along the north side of Highland Avenue. Sections of Sixth to 12th streets between Glacier and Highland avenues will be closed intermittently to through traffic to allow for the installation of a water line.

Local access will be maintained for businesses and residences from either Glacier Avenue or Highland Avenue, depending on the location of the work.

Glacier Avenue, between Seventh and Eighth streets, will be restricted to one lane through the middle of the week to allow for work on the storm sewer pumps.

Sixth Street, or U.S. Highway 97 in Redmond, from Glacier through Highland avenues, will be reduced to one lane from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. this week. Two lanes will be open during the day. Crews will be trenching and excavating to install the water main, storm drains, and signal and lighting wiring. The work is part of the Oregon Highway 126 Glacier-Highland Couplet project.

JEFFERSON COUNTY

Crews may be out working at U.S. Highway 97, milepost 92, and U.S. Highway 26, milepost 116, performing general cleanup in the project area. Seed and mulch will be placed throughout the site. No delays expected.

Traffic has been switched to the new three-lane Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad Bridge, west of Madras. ODOT crews have demolished the temporary bridge. Embankment work continues for work on the east side of the new structure.
