Corina Leola Haglund of Brookings died Jan. 15 of malignant melanoma. She was 40.

Services have been held.

Mrs. Hag-lund was born April 19, 1965, in Bend to Doyle and Christina (Farris) Rhodes. She graduated from Bend High School in 1985. She earned an associate degree from Central Oregon Community College, and a bachelor’s degree in human and family development from Oregon State University in 1991. She married Mark Haglund on July 23, 1988, in Bend.

While living in Corvallis, Mrs. Haglund worked at Kidco Head Start and ran a day-care center for two years. She later worked for Umatilla-Morrow Head Start in Hermiston. She most recently worked for Southcoast Head Start in Brookings from 1997 until illness forced her to stop working in 2004. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, quilting and her family.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Christopher; a daughter, Jessica; her parents of Madras; a sister, Gina Goetsch of Madras; and a grandmother, Ruth Farris of Bend.
