Dacotah ‘Coty’ Omemee Soules

Dacotah ”Coty” Omemee Soules of Madras died Thursday of natural causes. She was 81.

A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at Bel-Air Colonial Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bel-Air Colonial Chapel. A graveside service will follow at Mt. Jefferson Memorial Park.

Mrs. Soules was born Nov. 9, 1924, in Tuttle, N.D., to Herbert and Josie (Ashley) Swett. She earned a master’s degree. She married Garet Soules on June 7, 1947, in Dickinson, N.D.

Mrs. Soules worked as the director of preschool education for Warm Springs Head Start. She enjoyed reading, gardening and her grandchildren.

Survivors include four sons, Gary and Jim, both of Prineville, Richard of Portland and Greg of Bismarck, N.D.; a daughter, Rebecca Curnutt of Portland; a brother, Darwin Swett of Loveland, Colo.; a sister, Ann Kubie of Dickinson; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and a sister.

Memorial contributions may be made to Warm Springs Head Start or COBRA.

Bel-Air Colonial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
