A Prineville man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a 4-year-old boy Wednesday, after authorities received a call that the child was in the hospital with serious injuries.
Donnie Earl Asher, 26, and the child’s mother were living together at the Executive Inn Hotel in Prineville when the assault happened, Prineville police said.
The child was assaulted at the hotel and investigators arrested Asher in connection with the incident, according to a news release from the Prineville Police Department.
Asher also was arrested on a warrant out of Jefferson County for failing to appear in court, according to the release.
Asher was lodged at the Crook County jail in Prineville on suspicion of second-degree assault Wednesday. He was held on $52,500 bail.
Asher has no prior felony convictions in Oregon, according to court records. He has been subject to two abuse prevention restraining orders in Jefferson County.
Formal charges had not been filed against Asher as of Wednesday.
