Bend extends win streak

Bend High scored four goals in the first 13 minutes of play and breezed to a 6-0 Intermountain Conference girls soccer victory against The Dalles-Wahtonka Tuesday afternoon at the 15th Street field in Bend.

Rachel Harding recorded a hat trick, which include two goals in a two-minute span of the opening half, to help lead the Lava Bears (2-0 IMC, 5-3 overall) to their fifth consecutive win.

The Dalles-Wahtonka dropped to 1-3 in IMC play, 1-4-1 overall.

Harding scored goals in the fifth (assisted by Ali Friesen) and seventh (assisted by Kaitlyn Tebbs) minutes as Bend jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead. Tebbs then assisted on Kohleen Ervin’s goal in the eighth minute, and Harding completed her hat trick on a goal in the 13th minute assisted by Mackenzie Heinrich.

The Lava Bears added two second-half goals, both assisted by Becky Scholz. Tebbs scored about three minutes after intermission, and Kaitlyn Gould finished the scoring in the 60th minute.

Autumn Van Meter and Kelly Maloney combined for the shutout in goal, with each netminder playing 40 minutes.

Bend returns to IMC action Friday afternoon, when it plays at Mountain View.

PRINEVILLE – Rosi Kelley scored three goals – all in the first half – as the Cougars (4-3-2 overall) improved to 3-0 in Intermountain Conference play. Mountain View held a 4-0 halftime lead and never looked back against the Cowgirls (0-3-1 IMC, 1-5-1 overall). Felicia Rheaume added two goals, and Fabiola Caceres and Kristin Cowart each scored once. The victory proved costly for the Cougars, who lost the services of Amanda Roberts to a severely sprained ankle during the contest. Mountain View plays host to archrival Bend High Friday at 4 p.m.
