Mary ‘Jane’ (Hornbeak) Tofell Soder

Mary ”Jane” (Hornbeak) Tofell Soder of Prineville died Monday. She was 77.

No public services will be held at this time.

Mrs. Soder was born Dec. 9, 1927, in Malin to Berry and Pansy (Hunt) Hornbeak. She married Laddie Tofell in Reno, Nev. She later married Louis Soder in Reno. She moved to Prineville in 1961.

Mrs. Soder worked at the Pilot House Restaurant, owned and operated a motel in Bend and owned the Southside Market in Prineville before working for First Interstate Bank for 18 years. She later became a partner in the Your Paint Box store. She was a member of the Prineville Christian Church, Prineville Rotana Club, Elks and Eagles Auxiliary and Lookout Rebekahs Lodge.

Mrs. Soder enjoyed people, bowling, reading, pinochle and crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed oil painting, dancing, country western music, fishing, cooking, going to Reno and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include two sons, Dwayne and Bruce Tofell; a daughter, Lynita Hopkins; two sisters, Laura Jean Dixon of Prineville and Betty Jo Brightman of Malin; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by both husbands.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Prineville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
